I want to shout aloud at all those ad makers.. who are going a way beyond their imagination powers in designing a good ad for the... err.... ok... Sanitary Napkins.
I remember my childhood days trying to decipher these sanitary napkin ads on TV. What is that blue liquid getting poured on a Thing.. which I had not come across. I would fuss with mom, bothering her to explain. Later, when the right time came, I was embarrassed to the core, even to look at those kinds of ads.. It was hard to digest - how can some stupid show these details on a television being watched by everyone. (will the change in color of the liquid used matters at all??) I felt shy to watch it or discuss abt it. What if one of my male friends at school watch it and discusses with me as we talk about various things? How will I look at it, while my dad is sitting with me? Is it my mistake I am born Woman and have to go through this and ppl on television air it to the entire world??!! Plain ridiculous!!!
It took some years for me to feel matured about these things.. I could accept it. But not any more now! Whats with these ads again?? Why do these ppl want to show more and more, giving off the most awkward details about this 3-day business?? Is it after all to improve the sales and boost the business? Looking at these ads would leave anyone with the impression that the period is most important, problematic, scariest phase which as if would last lifelong on all the days on a woman.
Every girl in those ad would want to achieve something high and then they show- Whisper,Stayfree, Carefree, Sofy Side walls and what not. I say - whats with achieving heights in life and this thing?? Were there not women in olden days who have even fought for the freedom of our country? Did they all depend on "these" things to be successful? I dont really understand - Whats all the foolish logic behind this? All of the brands focus on only this storyline for some reason. I am damn sure, any woman(whatever be the age) would know for sure how to deal with this and come out of this. Its in her gene and she knows it the moment she first has it. And for God's sake, I would want to register that these are not the only ones needed for a woman's success in life. Please, I say Please- all those men (or women) behind this kind of creativity, come out of your stupid logic, grow up and think something sensible to increase your sales!!
Even if all this is acceptable, there are certain things strongly needed to be surely censored from these ads. Its so irritating to show up that minute details on an ad commercial. For example, take the stayfree ultrathin all night, do they gave to zoom up the girl's sleeping position and show us where the napkin would go and how it fits?? This is going to turn the perverts out there to think, imagine much more every time this ad is shown.

Next think of a girl who would want to pursue their career in armed forces or something similar. Mother turn her off giving this 3 day thing as one big hurdle in her life, for which the girl smiles off and whatdowesee??? ta-da....... Whisper, Stayfree and all those N number of brands coming up. The girl will be in extensive training in the next scene and camera zooms up and shows where the napkin would go in fitting. Are they expecting us to go figure a stain on her pants? What the hell are they trying to show us? Video below.
I am totally pissed off!! Would want to strangle anyone claiming responsibility for these kinds of ads. I have only one point. The majority of the community watching this know exactly whats going on and how to handle it. Then there is this part of the community who are not even experiencing this/ not a part of this problem. Finally there are children and kids who might not know whats happening and they obviously need not know what its all about. With all these cases given, I say - why and for whom all these ads and the details being shown?? Who are to be educated now? I really dont understand... Someone pls throw some light and help all the women out there before its too late or they are going to start describing even more:( TV watching with family is becoming a nightmare with these various brands trying to advertise their products along the same line. These come up as 3 out of 5 ads being aired during a break and we are seeing this again and again around 10 times for a half an hour show in TV. Opphhh!!! :(
